Cornerstone Has Moved
October 10th, 2008For anyone who has been checking our website on a regular basis, it may have seemed like we take an awful long time to move. Afterall, the “Cornerstone Is Moving!” post has been up for the better part of three or four months.
We like to take a broad understanding to the phrase “is moving.” There are quite a number of things that have yet to be put away and unpacked, so by our understanding, we’re doing quite well and may even be somewhat premature in changing “is moving” to “has moved.”
Our new location is at The Biblical Studies Center (aka The Center, 1025 Belmont St). With the new location, we don’t have as many students coming in during the day, and that has been a bit of a disappointment. Overall, though, we think the new location offers The Cornerstone a higher level of ministry potential. This is largely because of the partnerships that are forming between different campus ministries. There are currently three ministries based out of The Center, with several other campus ministries using the building on a regular basis. The three ministries are Cornerstone Ministry, Biblical Studies Center, and Impact/Synergy. At the core of these ministries is the idea that we are one body in Christ with many different gifts and functions. The result of applying this principle with all the groups involved is that Christ’s kindom is strengthened and more ministry is happening at Boise State.
The new location is also a great multipurpose location, which is a key component of Cornerstone’s ministry. There are three levels to the building. The main level houses the bookstore and offices. There is a kitchen, a game room with pool, pingpong, fusball, and air hockey, and a lounge area downstairs. The upstairs has a library, classroom, prayer room, and conference room. All of these rooms means that the building is able to be used by several different groups for ministry all throughout the day, which is very exciting to see!
Moving over the summer meant that we didn’t have as much time for planned, intentional ministry this semester (hence the delay in updating the website), but we hope to do more next semester, so keep checking back at the website for updates. Come in and visit us sometime; find what new books are out and what’s happening with the ministry. We love to share what God is doing here and are always looking for new partnerships in ministry.
