Resources
A Bookstore:
Cornerstone is a bookstore, but so much more. We believe in good books and so we desire for people to discover, or, in some cases, re-discover, the art and joy of reading. Consequently, we carry some of the best in Christian worldview resources available. Many of our titles cover a range of perspectives and counter-perspectives to help people discover and sharpen their own personal worldview on a variety of subjects.
Our in-store selection is about a thousand titles, but we also have access to over a million more through our distributor. Most special orders only take 2-3 days. As a non-profit ministry, we discount our books 20%, whether the title was on the shelf or it was special ordered.
Our primary purpose in including the bookstore as part of The Cornerstone’s ministry is to promote good teaching resources, not to just “sell books.” As a matter of fact, we sometimes give away more than we sell. That is especially true with students. Frequently, we promote certain titles at a below cost price to encourage people to read and grow.
Christian Worldview Resources:
Yes, most all of our resources are from a Christian perspective, but that may not mean quite what you think. Culture and stereotypes often get in the way of what following Christ is about.
What if you’re not a Christian or not sure yet what you believe? That’s okay, we have lots of books for honest seekers, for current agnostics & atheists as well, (been there, … understand that!) But everyone does have a worldview. So, why not develop yours and make it more consistent? We even have free books to help you in your search. Check with us, we can help!
We also specialize in books that are in the realm of what might be called “applied Christianity”. Are there definitive “Christian” perspectives on capitalism or the global warming or politics? Maybe God hasn’t specifically spoken on a particular subject, but there are biblical principles that do apply and we carry titles related to science, philosophy, culture, arts, politics, economics, education, environmental issues as well as a host of personal growth and relationship issues – from a diversity of Christian perspectives.
A Resource Library:
Although many people think of The Cornerstone as a bookstore, we prefer to think of ourselves as more of a “Resource Center.” Our goal is to help people to find answers to whatever topics are related to their lives. Unfortunately, books are expensive, even at discount. Consequently, we also provide books, articles, audio CD’s, and videos and DVD’s that can be loaned out for free.
Loan Books:
Both The Biblical Studies Center and The Cornerstone have extensive loan libraries. We are in the (rather slow) process of merging them and switching over to a Library of Congress system that will, eventually, be accessible for review online. The Center has a great collection of reference and study materials and we have added hundreds of other titles on theological topics, apologetic and evangelistic resources, as well as titles on practical Christian living issues, personal relationships and a wide variety of contemporary social issues.
Loan Print Articles:
Sometimes people don’t have time to read a whole book but need to know some key introductory information on a particular subject. We have kept hundreds of short articles on a wide variety of subjects in what we have called our “X-Files” cabinet. In time, we hope to have an online listing as well.
DVD’s & Videos, Audio & MP3 CD’s:
The Cornerstone also has dozens of quality teaching videos and DVD’s on a wide variety of subjects. We also have a collection of audio and MP3 CD’s on many topics.
Prayer Room
Cornerstone and The Center have also set aside a room upstairs as a dedicated “prayer room.” This area has room for one to six people and has been decorated by students with inspiring thoughts, Scriptures, a world map and like items. If you want a nice place for private prayer, alone or with friends, please come and visit. It is usually open for anyone to go there during the daytime.
In the past, our prayer room has also been used to promote 24 hour prayer times and even a full week of 24-7 prayer. If this is a ministry you are interested in helping to develop among the students and within the campus ministries, please talk to us and we will help direct you to other people who desire prayer for revival on campus.
